July 2008 ShibuShibu event

The Harvard College Japan Initiative held a study abroad information session/cultural exchange session at Shibuya Junior and Senior High School ("ShibuShibu") on July 25, 2008.

Over 60 students and parents attended, and the event was a great success. We thank all of you who attended and look forward to seeing you at our future events, and wish you the best of luck.

Schedule

  • 13:00 - Tour of the school. Performances by the school's koto and tea ceremony clubs.
  • 14:00 - Presentation. Topic: Applying to colleges in the U.S. and college life. This part will be in Japanese.
  • 14:45 - Breakout sessions. An opportunity for the high school students and Harvard students to discuss any topics that interest them, such as the culture of both countries, high schools, colleges, education, and college admissions.
  • 15:30 - Reception.

  • High school students from Shibuya Junior and Senior High School and its sister school, Shibuya Makuhari Junior and Senior High School
  • Harvard College students currently in Japan over the summer
  • HCJI Board representatives
